What are my denture options?

Dentures come in a variety of styles to suit your needs, including:

  • Partial dentures: In the case of missing teeth which have some remaining healthy natural teeth, a partial denture may help. This style denture fits over the natural teeth and helps them receive the stimulation they require to stay healthy.
  • Full denture: A full denture replaces all the teeth on an arch and rests on the gum tissue. The restoration uses gravity or suction to stay in place depending on which arch of teeth it replaces.
  • Implanted-supported dentures: This type of denture is usually permanent and non-removable. It is held in place by four or more dental implants, which your dentist surgically implants into the jawbone beneath the gum tissue.

Can dentures help my smile?

Dentures can help you in many situations where you have missing teeth. While a dental bridge or single implant may be better suited to replace a single tooth, a denture focuses on replacing most or all of the teeth, meaning that a good candidate has large gaps in their smile. Patients should have a strong at-home oral care routine to properly care for their dentures, natural teeth, and general oral tissues. The American Dental Association recommends brushing twice daily and flossing between any remaining teeth at least once. Patients with removable dentures will need to brush their dentures with a denture cleaner then soak them overnight while they sleep.
